The 5 best pushchair footmuffs for 2026

These are our best pushchair footmuffs for babies and toddlers, with choices for easy washing, compact packing and a good harness fit.

By The Baby Blog · Published
A parent opens a fleece-lined footmuff in an empty pushchair before an autumn walk.

A footmuff, also called a cosy toes, adds an enclosing layer around your child on chilly pushchair trips. The useful details show up when the weather changes: a front you can open in a warm shop, enough room for legs and shoes, and a lining you can clean after a muddy walk.

Our quick pick
The Orzbow 97 cm footmuff is our first choice for everyday trips with children aged 6–24 months, provided your pushchair’s shoulder and waist straps separate. Its front and foot-end zips are useful day to day. Choose the FYLO Premium for a lower-cost option with a removable front.

Check the harness before you choose

Match the footmuff to the seat you already use. Check where the shoulder, waist and crotch straps need to pass through, and whether the openings suit your harness. A universal label still needs this check, especially where straps cannot detach.

Your child must meet both the pushchair seat's and the footmuff's suitability rules. For a taller toddler, confirm the usable length from the shoulder openings to the toes, allowing room for shoes. A long outer measurement alone does not tell you how much legroom remains once fitted.

Our favourite pushchair footmuffs

1. Orzbow Universal Footmuff (97 cm)

The Orzbow combines a modest price with useful front and foot-end access. Its padded fleece lining makes it a practical everyday choice for a baby or young toddler, especially once shoes become part of the outing.

Why did we choose this product?

The separate front and bottom zips let you open the cover or leave muddy shoes outside without unfastening the whole footmuff. It can be machine washed at 30°C and comes with a storage bag for when you take it off the pushchair.

Keep in mind

The shoulder and waist straps must separate to thread through the harness slots. Orzbow specifically excludes the UPPAbaby Vista V2. This 97 cm version is designed for 6–24 months; check usable legroom and follow both the pushchair instructions and the sewn-in care label.

•Selected version: A0405, size L, Patent Black

•Overall size: 97 × 44 cm

•Fleece lining with cotton padding

•Front zip, foot-end opening and storage bag

2. FYLO Premium Footmuff

The FYLO Premium is a sensible starting point when you want a padded footmuff without spending much. Its fleece lining and removable front cover the everyday essentials, and it has plenty of positive customer ratings.

Why did we choose this product?

Low cost and machine washing are the appeal. The zip runs around the front, letting you open it from either side or remove the cover to leave a seat liner. That makes it practical when the same buggy handles chilly morning trips and warmer afternoons.

Keep in mind

For a taller toddler, confirm the usable shoulder-to-toe length before ordering. Check that the openings match your five-point harness, and use the supplied care label for the wash setting.

Features that may help you

•Selected version: Premium, Black Jack

•Soft fleece lining with extra padding

•Removable front and seat-liner option

•Machine washable

3. My Babiie Universal Footmuff

My Babiie is worth a look if you want a simple fleece-lined cover with a showerproof front. The Forest Green version pairs its green outer with a black lining, and the front unzips fully to leave a seat liner.

Why did we choose this product?

It gives you light-rain protection and a removable cover at a modest price. Standard five-point harness holes suit many pushchairs, and customer ratings are very good. It is an easy choice to consider if your usual mess can be dealt with by a quick sponge clean.

Keep in mind

Sponge clean only, following the manufacturer’s care instructions. If muddy shoes or frequent spills make whole-cover washing a priority, choose one of the washable options instead.

Features that may help you

•Selected colour: Forest Green

•Fleece lining and showerproof front

•Standard five-point harness holes

•Front removes to leave a seat liner

4. CYBEX Snogga 2 Footmuff

The Snogga 2 makes the most sense when you regularly remove the footmuff for folding, travel or changing weather. At 0.4 kg, it packs into its own carry pouch instead of leaving you with a bulky padded cover to carry.

Why did we choose this product?

Compact storage and a separate bottom zip are its strongest reasons to spend more. You can open the foot end for ventilation or let muddy shoes stay outside, while the front zip gives access to your child.

Keep in mind

It is for six months and over. The 90 × 50 cm measurements describe the whole footmuff, so check your child’s fit rather than assuming a particular age guarantees enough legroom. The price is high if you rarely need its packing advantage.

Features that may help you

•Selected colour: Sky Blue

•Full-size Snogga 2 with carry pouch

•Front opening and bottom ventilation zip

•Gentle machine wash at 30°C

5. Cosatto Footmuff Silhouette

The Silhouette footmuff is the focused choice for someone who already has a compatible Cosatto pushchair. Its quilted front includes a hand pouch, and the black finish is easy to pair with the rest of the pushchair.

Why did we choose this product?

The reversible liner adds useful flexibility: unzip the front and turn the liner over when you want the lighter side. The hand pouch is a nice extra for a child who likes to tuck their hands away during a walk.

Keep in mind

Check compatibility with your precise Cosatto model before buying. Choose it for that matching fit and reversible liner, especially if those features matter more to you than compact packing or a low price.

Features that may help you

•Selected design: Black Silhouette

•Quilted front with kangaroo hand pouch

•Removable front and reversible liner

•Wash on a handwash cycle at 30°C

Adjust warmth as you go

A cold pavement, a heated bus and a warm café can all be part of the same outing. Open or remove the warm cover when you go indoors, and take off hats and extra layers. The NHS advises doing this on heated transport too, even if it means waking your baby.

Feel your baby's tummy to check their warmth. If it feels hot or they are sweating, reduce the layers. Cool hands or feet on their own do not mean a baby needs more clothing. Choose clothes you can adjust easily instead of relying on one fixed winter outfit for every trip.

Keep the pushchair opening clear. Never drape a blanket or muslin over it to block the wind. RoSPA advises keeping your child harnessed and supervised throughout the journey, including when the footmuff is zipped up.

Think about muddy shoes and folded storage

If your toddler gets out to walk, decide how you will deal with shoes on the way back. The Orzbow and Snogga 2 have a bottom opening that lets muddy shoes stay outside. With the other designs, removing shoes before zipping up can spare the fleece a full clean.

Choose the care method you will actually use. A machine-washable cover is useful for frequent mess, while the My Babiie needs sponge cleaning. Check the sewn-in label for the wash cycle and drying instructions, and let the footmuff dry fully before storing it.

A padded footmuff can take up useful space when you fold a compact buggy. Check your pushchair's folding instructions and remove the footmuff if it gets in the way of the fold or lock. For trips where you regularly take it on and off, the Snogga 2's light weight and compact packing are its clearest advantages.
